Pizzo is one of the most beautiful towns on this stunning coastline. Famous for it's delicious homemade ice cream ('gelato'), it's known as 'a town built on ice cream'. The elegant central Piazza is perched on the cliff top above the clear, sparkling, azure waters and white, sandy beaches of the Tyrhennian Sea. Pizzo is surrounded by blue - blue sky blends with blue sea - and you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Sant Eufemia, with the iconic volcano Stromboli visible on the horizon. It's easy to see why this area is known as the 'Coast of the Gods'.
Local people and visitors alike gather each evening to watch the stunning sunsets for which Pizzo is famous, while they relax in Pizzo's many bars, cafes & restaurants, or stroll up & down chatting with friends in the Piazza or along the seafront promenade. You will find excellent cuisine in all the local restaurants, and not to be missed is the 'Tartufo' - Pizzo's ice cream speciality - which is exported all over the world.
Explore the winding medieval streets & Castle of the historic Old Town, and step back in time as you visit a place which has been celebrated since it was colonised by the Ancient Greeks. Pizzo is a town renowned for its beauty, unspoilt charm, hospitality and, above all, the warmth & friendliness of its people. Once visited, Pizzo is never forgotten, and will claim a piece of your heart, as has happened to so many who return year after year. It is the 'little sister' of Tropea, and a place where genuine local colour, culture and traditions can still be experienced.
Only 20 minutes drive from Lamezia Airport, Pizzo is conveniently located half way between the airport and the internationally renowned town of Tropea.
